Becoming a Field Biologist
This Becoming a Field Biologist course is designed for pest management professionals aiming to step up into more advanced, data-driven roles. Prerequisites & Entry Requirements
You’ll need the following before enrolling:
- RSPH Level 2 + Level 3 in Pest Management (or equivalent)
- RSPH Level 2 Health & Safety
- Level 3 Award in Food Safety
Recommended: Bring site reports or data from different sites if possible — these will help with trend analysis and presentation tasks. Experience in pest management / monitoring tools is helpful.

Conducting Site Inspections & Monitoring Tools — how to plan and run inspections, using traps, baits, monitoring devices; evaluating evidence, how to document conditions.

Trend Analysis & Data Presentation — collecting data over time, recognising patterns, graphing & interpreting results, presenting findings to clients or internal stakeholders.

Auditing Standards & HACCP — how audits work, what standards are applied; use of HACCP principles in pest control; aligning inspections / monitoring with food safety / manufacturing requirements.

Manufacturing Processes — understanding how different manufacturing environments (food, pharmaceuticals, packaging etc.) affect pest behaviour & control; risk points in process flow.
