Whether you’re entering the industry or want to formalise your experience, this course gives you the qualification recognised by employers.
Who Should Attend
Intended for anyone starting a career in pest management: pest control technicians, property managers, facilities staff, local authority workers. If you’re handling rodents, insects, or bird pests — or want to apply for roles that demand recognized certification — this is your course. No previous qualifications required (just a willingness to learn).
Course Content
- Vertebrate management - Covering the biology, behaviour and control of mammals (rodents, squirrels etc.), legal restrictions on species, rodenticides, humane methods and record keeping.
- Invertebrate management - Focus on insects of public health concern (cockroaches, flies, bed bugs etc.), stored product insects, insecticide use, non-chemical.
- Bird management - Common nuisance birds, proofing, deterrents, nests, legal issues (protected species), and key control strategies.
- Health, Safety and Legislation - Personal protective equipment (PPE), COSHH, waste management, environmental protection, CRRU, other regulatory bodies.
- Report writing and risk assessment - How to assess site-specific risks, write clear reports, meet documentation and records required by law and clients.
- Customer interaction - Communicating risks and control plans to clients, handling complaints, advising on prevention.
